What is a steel front door, exactly?
An insulated entrance door with a galvanised steel outer skin. The door leaf fits into a frame, closes against seals and meets a threshold at floor level.
Which thermal standard is right for my home?
Five construction levels: Standard 55 (Ud from 0.93), Comfort 72 (0.82), Comfort 72 ALU (0.83), Premium 90 (0.61) and Premium 90 ALU (0.67), in W/m²K for a solid door.
How will I lock and unlock my door?
Two separate three-bolt locks, the ROTO QB multipoint lock, the FUHR automatic lock or motorised access by fingerprint, keypad or phone.
Steel/wood or aluminium?
A steel/wood frame with a laminated timber core, or a thermally broken aluminium frame recommended for doors with sidelights. Both profiles are 90 mm wide.

Standard sidelights with a visible aluminium frame, or Diamond sidelights with glass covering the frame, available with an aluminium frame and an outward-opening door.
What size door do I need?
Measure the structural opening, include the whole entrance and allow for the finished floor. Size codes 80N, 80, 90N, 90 and 100, with bespoke sizes available.
What about the threshold?
An insulated aluminium/uPVC threshold, 91 mm wide and 20 mm high, with a thermal break.
The questions worth asking.
Will a steel door make my hallway cold?
Steel is the outer skin, while insulation, the frame, glass and seals determine the complete door’s thermal performance. Compare the declared U-value for the actual door set. Every thermal standard we offer uses an insulated frame.
Do I have to choose a plain grey door?
No. There are wood-effect finishes, solid colours, glazing and decorative designs. The thermal standard describes the construction, while the model describes the appearance. Finish and design availability depend on the model.
Can I have glass without giving up privacy?
You can choose a glazed model or add sidelights. Ask to see the available glass finishes and discuss how much visibility you want from outside. Glazing changes the door’s U-value.
Does the thickest door automatically give the highest security?
Leaf thickness is only part of the construction. Security depends on the complete specification, including the frame, locks, cylinder, accessories and glazing. Choose the lock for how you use your door, not by thickness alone.
Can I choose a smart lock later?
Motorised systems need compatible hardware and a power supply. It is best to plan fingerprint, keypad or phone access when specifying the door. Do not assume that every existing lock can be upgraded without other changes.
Do these doors need much maintenance?
The laminated skin is easy to clean and resistant to UV and scratches. Follow the care instructions for your selected finish, glazing and hardware. Check and maintain moving parts and seals as directed; the door is a complete working assembly.
Can I order from my own measurements?
Your measurements are useful for an initial quotation. A final survey should confirm the structural opening, frame dimensions, fitting gaps, handing and floor levels before manufacture, especially when adding sidelights.
What affects the final price and delivery time?
